Daily tips to enrich our lives - Rachael Pickworth

Time Out

Ensure you mark time in your calendar just for you, whether it be half an hour a week to walk bare foot in the park (leave your mobile in the office!) or two hours at the beautician. How can you ensure this 'appointment' is the highest priority?

Stop and "just be"

Use available moments throughout the day to stop and just be. This morning I was pushing the pram with my mobile between my shoulder and ear, multi-tasking as usual. I stopped for a couple of minutes to pause, breathe, listen to the birds, notice the clouds, giggle at my little boy's attempts at talking and savour the moment. We can do this many times throughout the day to enrich us.

Small luxuries

What do you really enjoy doing that you constantly put off, but you know enriches you? It could be reading a juicy book, singing loudly to your favourite CD as you cook dinner whilst sipping a glass of vino, or indulging in a bubble bath. What can you do this week?

Connect with nature

How long has it been since you've connected with nature? Sometimes gardening, bushwalking, walking in the rain or just sitting in the park can allow us to get present and relaxed.

Reflect and acknowledge

Journaling is a fun, powerful and cleansing tool. Try taking five minutes a day to write down your thoughts and feelings, acknowledge yourself for your gorgeous qualities and create a rich record of your life. I even put menus and old movie tickets in mine to create warm memories. We look back over time to discover how interesting and rich our lives really are.
