Privacy Policy

WIMBN will manage personal information as set out in National Privacy Principles of the Privacy Act 1988. In accordance with Principal 5 of the Privacy Act, the following statement describes how this will be done.

WIMBN respects the privacy of your personal information.

WIMBN maintains an electronic database of all its members and their details. Member records are also kept on hard copy for back-up purposes.

  • WIMBN shall not use or disclose personal information about an individual for a purpose other than the original purpose of collection.
  • Authorised staff may have access to hard copy and electronic member details only if the information sought is necessary for an approved and legitimate administrative action or other WIMBN business, which includes, but is not restricted to, internal auditing; adding a member's name to a contact list, guest list or invitation list; or helping WIMBN identify networking activities that may be of interest to the member.
  • Member details shall be stored in a secure area and with safeguards implemented to minimise loss, unauthorised access and use, modification or misuse.

Sensitive Information

Sensitive information is personal information about an individual and includes, but is not limited to, racial or ethnic origin, membership of a political, professional or trade association or trade union, religious beliefs or affiliations.

  • WIMBN shall only collect sensitive information about an individual if the individual has consented or if the collection is required under law.

Rights of Access

Members are issued with an individual password, enabling them to access and amend their personal details on the database.

Member information and details shall only be released upon request or approval from the member concerned.

WIMBN may however be required to disclose personal information without consent if the disclosure is:

  • required or authorised by law;
  • required in order to investigate an unlawful activity;
  • required by an enforcement body for investigative activities; or
  • necessary to prevent a serious and imminent threat to a person's life, health or safety, or to public health or safety.

To exercise your rights of access, for more information on how WIMBN handles personal information, or to make a complaint about a breach of privacy by WIMBN, please contact WIMBN via email at info@wimbn.com.au

Data Security Policy

For credit card transactions, WIMBN adds security by using 128 bit encryption through Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) technology. This means that the credit card information you send is encrypted by your computer, and then decrypted again on our side, preventing others from accessing your private information in between. So, when using an SSL capable browser, shopping on the WIMBN web site is the safest kind of transaction possible with a credit card.

WIMBN will take reasonable steps to protect the personal information it holds from misuse and loss and from unauthorised access, modification or disclosure.

WIMBN will take reasonable steps to destroy or permanently de-identify personal information if it is no longer needed for any purpose for which the information may be used or disclosed under its Privacy Policy.

When installing, operating, or maintaining its network, WIMBN will take whatever measures are practicable, or are required by law, to ensure the privacy of communications passing over its network.

Interception (Monitoring and Recording)

Interception of a communication during the course of its passage across the network is prohibited unless it is necessary for the effective performance of functions or activities relating to:

  • the installation of any line or equipment used in connection with the network, or
  • the operation or maintenance of the network, or
  • the identifying or tracing of a person suspected of having contravened a provision of Part VIIB of the Crimes Act 1914 (Cth);
  • interception requested by law enforcement and security agencies (which will only be undertaken on production of a lawful warrant and where WIMBN is satisfied that the warrant has been issued in accordance with the requirements with the Telecommunications (Interception) Act 1979 (Cth). In addition, recording will only be undertaken where aural/visual monitoring is not suitable for the purpose and voice recording will only be undertaken where authorised by the customer or by law.)

Interception will only be undertaken in accordance with company procedures. Only staff who have received instruction on the appropriate monitoring and recording procedures and who are aware of their responsibilities for the protection of customer privacy and confidentiality will be permitted to undertake monitoring functions.

Participant Monitoring

Participant monitoring may be undertaken for the purposes of improving the quality of service to customers and the training of staff, or where there is a specific operational, security or technical reason to do so. Customer consent will be obtained prior to undertaking participant monitoring unless it is not practicable to do so, such as in the case of calls or monitoring which are typically of very short duration.

Refund Policy

Events

A member unable to attend an event will be eligible for a full refund of the event fee (less $25 administration fee) if cancellation is given in writing more than seven (7) days prior to the event. Alternatively, a substitute participant is welcome to attend. Any changes to initial registration details must be received in writing prior to the event.

If WIMBN cancels the scheduled event, a member may elect to be given a 100% refund, or alternatively they may choose to allow WIMBN to retain their full payment until the event is re-scheduled or for payment of, or towards, the next WIMBN event.

Membership

Should a member choose to cancel their WIMBN membership, no refund will be forthcoming.

Should a WIMBN member choose to leave PLAN Australia, their current WIMBN membership will be terminated. Re-instatement of membership can occur by confirmation in writing and full payment of the annual membership fee.

Termination of a PLAN Australia member will automatically incur termination of an individual's WIMBN membership. The option to re-instate WIMBN membership will be dependant on the circumstances surrounding the initial termination.
